Abstract:Taken the Digital Radiography (DR) testing and the conventional radiography testing as objects, the feasibility and practicality of using the DR testing to partially replace the conventional radiography testing during the ship construction are studied. The plate butt specimen and the pipe butt specimen are tested, and the characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and costs of DR testing and conventional radiography testing are compared. It is found that more testing scenes during the ship construction meet the DR testing requirements, and the DR testing advantages are better played, which determines that the DR testing can be used instead of the conventional radiography testing in the splice plate weld testing and piping weld testing for infield operations of ship construction.
