In order to improve the production efficiency, the systematical analysis and research on block assembly procedure flow in shipbuilding is made reasonably. The hierarchical clustering algorithm is used to analyze the block assembly transportation logs of two different ship types, and the typical procedure flow categories in block assembly of each ship type are obtained. The influence of data preprocessing ways and distance calculation methods between different data points on the hierarchical clustering results is discussed. This research can provide an important basis for the follow-up block assembly technology link model construction and optimization scheme formulation.
