Abstract:In order to study the influence of solar radiation on hull thermal deformation, a prediction method is conducted based on the HOTTEL solar radiation model. The solar radiation intensity on the hull surface based on parameters such as declination and solar hour angle is calculated. Based on the twodimensional steady heat conduction theory and the beam bending theory, hull bending deformation in horizontal and vertical directions is proposed. Taken the very large crude carrier as an example, the hull deformation considering the solar radiation in different seasons is calculated. The summer and winter forecast results are about 3.97% and 14.29% different from the finite element calculation results, respectively, which meets the engineering requirements.
