A balanced working platforms configuration of the scaffolding system is important to the efficient erection of containment system of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier construction. Based on the analysis on construction logistics and erection procedures of containment system, the functional-structural characteristics and platforms repartition principles for the scaffolding system are investigated. Furthermore, the mechanism of working platform material combination and the key requirements of plywood properties are discussed. The results establish the configuration method of working platforms for the scaffolding system, revealing the principle of platform distribution and height repartition, as well as the strategy of working platform material combination with plywood and square steel tube/scaffold board. The configuration method provides beneficial insight into scaffolding system design practice.
