Cruise ship costs expensively to be built. If the principal dimensions of the ship type determined in the preliminary design stage are not reasonable, it will cause huge decision-making errors. Therefore, the technical and economic evaluation is necessary. On the basis of fully considering the characteristics of cruise ship, a comprehensive evaluation index system of cruise ship for technical and economic evaluation has been systematically established. A combination method of DEMATEL-AHP-VIKOR is presented for evaluation because of lots of indexes and schemes. The program is developed with MATLAB and Visual Studio C# program language and the method is verified through examples calculation. The results indicate that the sorting schemes obtained through the DEMATEL-AHP-VIKOR are in line with the trend of large-scale cruise ships, which proves that the method has strong applicability and reliability. Using the DEMATEL-AHP-VIKOR combination method can effectively select excellent ship schemes during the preliminary design stage and provide reasonable decision-making .
